    Note: For environmental protection, used oil and used oil filters must be disposed of at designated disposal sites.

  1. Remove the oil filler cap.
  2. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil into a container.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten to 40 N·m (29 lb ft).

  6. Using a strap type wrench, remove the oil filter.
  7. Clean the oil filter installation surface.
  8. Apply engine oil to the oil filter gasket.
  9. Lightly screw the oil filter into the engine until the oil filter dose not turn.
  10. Using a strap type wrench, tighten the oil filter.
  11. Depending on the work space available, choose from the following:
  12. • If enough space is available, use a torque wrench to tighten the oil filter.

    Tighten
    Tighten to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

    • If enough space is not available to use a torque wrench, tighten the oil filter a 3/4 turn by hand or use a common wrench.
  13. Add fresh engine oil and install the oil filler cap.
  14. Inspect for oil leaks.
