Removal Procedure
Except AWD Vehicles
- Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose (1) from the charcoal canister.
- Disconnect the vapor pressure sensor connector (1).
- Disconnect the wire harness clamp (3).
- Disconnect the purge line hose (2).
- Disconnect the charcoal canister filter assembly (3) from the charcoal canister.
- Remove the 3 bolts (1-3) and charcoal canister assembly.
AWD Vehicles
- Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose (1) from the charcoal canister.
- Disconnect the vapor pressure sensor connector (2).
- Disconnect the charcoal canister filter assembly (3) from the charcoal canister.
- Disconnect the purge line (2).
- Remove the 3 bolts (1-3) and charcoal canister assembly.
Inspection Procedure
- Visually check the charcoal canister for cracks or damage.
If cracks or damage are found, replace the charcoal canister
assembly.
- Check the charcoal canister operation.
- With the purge port closed, blow 1.10 kPa (0.16 psi) of air into the vent port (3), and check that air flows from the air inlet port (2). If the result is not as specified, replace the charcoal canister assembly.
- With the vent port (3) closed, blow 1.10 kPa (0.16 psi) of air into the air inlet port (2), and
check that air flows from the purge port (1). If the result is not as specified, replace the charcoal canister assembly.
- Check for air leakage.
- With the purge port (2) and air inlet port (3) closed, apply 19.6 kPa (2.81 psi) of pressurized air into the vent port, then confirm that pressure is retained for 1 minute. If the result is not as specified,
replace the charcoal canister assembly.
Installation Procedure
AWD Vehicles
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the charcoal canister assembly with the 3 bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 19 N·m(14 lb ft).
- Connect the purge line (2).
- Connect the charcoal canister filter assembly to the charcoal canister (3).
- Connect the vapor pressure sensor connector (2).
- Connect the fuel tank vent hose (1) to the charcoal canister assembly.
Except AWD Vehicles
- Install the charcoal canister assembly with the 3 bolts (1-3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 19 N·m (14 lb ft)
- Connect the charcoal canister filter assembly to the charcoal canister (3).
- Connect the purge line hose (2).
- Connect the wire harness clamp (3).
- Connect the vapor pressure sensor connector (1).
- Connect the fuel tank vent hose (1) to the charcoal canister.
