Power Door Lock Programming
Vehicles with automatic transaxles are equipped with a programmable automatic door lock/unlock feature.
The following is a list of the available programming options:
Mode 1: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. There is no automatic door unlocking.
Mode 2: No automatic door locking or unlocking.
Mode 3: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. All doors and liftgate unlock when the shift lever is moved to PARK (P) with the ignition
on.
Mode 4: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. All doors and liftgate unlock when the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or to LOCK.
To change the mode, do the following:
- Set the interior lamp control dial to the door position.
- Move the shift lever into PARK (P) and close all doors and liftgate.
- Turn the ignition to ON.
- Within five seconds after the ignition is turned to ON, press and hold the power door lock switch in the lock position for about five seconds.
- The interior lamp will flash to indicate that the mode has been changed. For example, if the lamp flashes once, the function has been changed to Mode 1.
- Turn the ignition off. Then repeat steps 3 through 5 to select consecutive modes.
If the battery is disconnected or run down, the mode is changed to the initial mode which is Mode 4.
Power Door Locks System Components
• | Multifunction Alarm Module: The Multifunction Alarm Module controls the automatic door locks |
• | Door lock key cylinder switches |
Door Lock Features
The multifunction alarm module has the following door lock features:
All Door Unlock: The multifunction alarm module unlocks all of the doors when you press UNLOCK on either door lock switch or turn the key to the unlock position from the passenger door key cylinder switch.
All Door Lock: The multifunction alarm module locks all of the doors when you press LOCK on either door lock switch.
Lockout Prevention: The multifunction alarm module does not lock the doors if you press LOCK on either door lock switch if the key is in the ignition cylinder and the driver and or the front passenger door is open.
Driver Door All Unlock: The multifunction alarm module unlocks all of the vehicle doors when you turn the key to the UNLOCK position twice in quick succession from the driver door key cylinder switch.
All Door Unlock
The multifunction alarm module unlocks all of the doors when you press UNLOCK once on either the door lock switch or on the keyless remote.
Pressing UNLOCK once on either door lock switch connects ground to the multifunction alarm module. When the circuit is grounded it cycles the door lock actuator control circuit from a normally grounded circuit to battery positive voltage. This supplies
power to the door lock actuators and receives ground from the multifunction alarm module.
All Door Lock
The multifunction alarm module locks all of the doors when you press LOCK once from either door lock switch with both front doors closed, or turn the key to the LOCK position from either door key cylinder switches.
Lockout Prevention
The multifunction alarm module does not lock the vehicle doors when you press LOCK on either door lock switch with the lockout prevention feature active. The multifunction alarm module activates the lockout prevention feature when the following conditions
exist:
• | Either front door is open. |
• | The key is inserted in the ignition switch cylinder. |
The multifunction alarm module disables the following automatic door lock features:
• | Last door closed locking |
• | Keyless entry system lock function |
Anti-Theft Operation
The Anti-theft function disables the door unlock function of the door lock switches when one of the following actions occur:
• | The ignition key is removed, and with the driver door open, the LOCK switch is pressed from either door switch. |
• | With the ignition key removed and all doors closed, you press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter. |
To disable the anti-theft function, one of the following actions must occur:
• | Turn the key to the UNLOCK position from either door key cylinder switches |
• | Press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter |
• | Cycle the ignition switch. |
