Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

  2. Object Number: 853219  Size: SH
  3. Loosen the upper park brake cable nut (2).
  4. Loosen the lower park brake cable nut (3).
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. If the vehicle has front-wheel drive, complete the following steps:
  7. 5.1. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
    5.2. Remove the 3 nuts and the front floor forward heat shield.
    5.3. Remove the 2 nuts and the front floor center heat shield.
  8. Remove the 3 park brake cables (6,7,9) from the equalizer (8).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the 3 park brake cables (6,7,9) to the equalizer (8).
  2. If the vehicle has front-wheel drive, complete the following steps:
  3. 2.1. Install the front floor center heat shield and the 2 nuts.
    2.2. Install the front floor forward heat shield and the 3 nuts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and the bolts to 5.5 N·m (48.68 lb in).

    2.3. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  4. Inspect the park brake lever travel. Adjust as necessary. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  5. Install the rear floor console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
