AWD Only (Model M62 / M64 ) with Various EVAP Codes P0440 P0441 P0442 or P0446 - 1.8 code DTC hose LNK leak light LV6 MIL

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

MIL light illuminated with any or all of the following EVAP DTCs: P0440, P0441, P0442 and P0446.

Install a new ORVR hose part # 88973068 through GMSPO. The new hose can be identified by a black o-ring. The original hose is identified with an orange o-ring. NOTE: Part number 88973068 is the most current as of 10/10/03. Part numbers are subject to change.

Prior to ordering the updated ORVR hose perform the following steps:

1. Confirm the leak is coming from the EVAP vent hose connection at the ORVR valve using the Evaporative Emission System Tester J41413-200 by selecting the smoke function. If smoke is detected, order the updated hose.
2. If the evap leak is not detected using the smoke detector, gently wiggle from side to side the hose at the ORVR valve and re-check for smoke as noted in step #1. If smoke is detected order the updated hose.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
