Some customers may comment that the power sliding door (PSD) will reverse on closing or the door will appear closed, but the alarm will come on when the transmission is moved out of Park.
Corrupted detent switch signals may cause the above malfunctions. The PSD system relies on signals generated by the detent switch on the latch and transmitted through the plungers on the door side and pads on the body side to determine that the door is fully latched.
Important: For 1997 and 1998 Extended Wheelbase (5th VIN character "X") vehicles, follow Steps 1 through 3.
For 1998 Regular Wheelbase (5th VIN character "U"), and all 1999 and 2000 vehicles up to VINs 1GNDXO3E3YD100089,1GHDX03E9YD100147, and 1GMDX03E4YD100087, follow Steps 1 through 5.Important: Both the controller and latch must be replaced. The new latch will not function with the previous versions of the controller.
