Carrier and Hold-Down

A retainer and bolt are used to secure the battery to the carrier.

The battery carrier and hold-down clamp should be clean and free from corrosion before installing the battery.

The carrier should be in a sound condition so it will hold the battery securely and level. Be sure there is nothing in the carrier before installing the battery.

To keep the battery from shaking in the carrier, the hold-down bolt should be tightened to specification. Failure to secure the battery properly may result in shaking of the battery in the carrier, thereby shortening the life of the battery.
