Removal Procedure
Caution: When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
- Disable the SIR system, if equipped with Side Impact Air Bag
(SIAB). Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
or to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in
SIR.
- Remove the front bucket seat. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Remove the outer trim panel from the seat cushion. Refer to
Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Unfasten the J-hook retainer located at the bottom of the seat back cover.
- Unfasten the J-hook retainer located next to the SIAB module, if equipped.
- Remove enough of the seat back pad and cover to access the upper recliner
bolts (1).
- Remove the recliner bolts (1,2).
- Remove the recliner from the seat.
Installation Procedure
- Install the recliner to the seat.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the recliner bolts (1,2)
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the seat back pad and cover to a desired appearance.
- Fasten the J-hook retainer located next to the SIAB module, if equipped.
- Fasten the J-hook retainer located at the bottom of the seat back cover.
- Install the outer trim panel on the seat cushion. Refer to
Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the bucket seat. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Reposition the seat back to the original position.
- Check the seat back recliner for proper operation.
- Enable the SIR system, if equipped with SIAB. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
or to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.

Removal Procedure

- Remove the outer trim panel from the seat cushion. Refer to

- Unfasten the J-hook retainer located at the bottom of the seat back cover.
- Unfasten the J-hook retainer located next to SIAB module, if equipped.
- At the bottom of the seat back (1) remove the seat cushion lateral
release knob from the recliner.
- Remove the EZ entry adjuster cable (4) from the seat adjuster (3).
- Remove the EZ entry adjuster cable (4) from the adjuster cable
bracket (5).
- Remove enough of the seat back pad and cover
to access the recliner bolts (1).
- Remove the seat recliner bolts (1,2).
- Remove the recliner from the seat.
Installation Procedure
- Install the recliner to the seat.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the recliner bolts (1,2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the seat back pad and cover to a
desired appearance.
- Install the EZ entry adjuster cable (4) to the seat adjuster (3).
- Install the EZ entry adjuster cable (4) to the adjuster cable
bracket (5).
- Fasten the J-hook retainer located next to SIAB module, if equipped.
- Fasten the J-hook retainer located at the bottom of the seat back cover.
- At the bottom of the seat back (1) install the lateral release
knob to the recliner. Press the lateral release knob till fully seated on the recliner.
- Install the outer trim panel on the seat cushion. Refer to
Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the front bucket seat. Refer to
Passenger Front EZ Entry Seat Replacement
.
- Reposition the seat back (1) to the original position.
- Check seat back recliner for proper operation.
- Enable the SIR system, if equipped with SIAB. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
or to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
