Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 846594 Size: SH
  1. If replacing the vacuum check valve (1) and/or the upper vacuum hose, disconnect the vacuum check valve (1) from the brake booster.
  2. If the vacuum check valve (1) needs to be separated from the upper vacuum hose, release and reposition the clamp on the vacuum hose, and remove the valve from the hose.
  3. If replacing the vacuum check valve (1), remove the grommet from the brake booster and discard the grommet.
  4. Release and reposition the clamp on the upper vacuum hose (2), and remove the vacuum hose from the lower vacuum hose and pipe assembly.

  5. Object Number: 846575 Size: SH
  6. If replacing the lower vacuum hose and pipe assembly, release the vacuum hose connector retainer (1), then remove the connector from the vacuum port on the intake manifold.

  7. Object Number: 846588 Size: SH
  8. Remove the lower vacuum hose and pipe assembly retaining nut (2), and remove the assembly.

Installation Procedure

Important: A small amount of denatured alcohol can be used as an assembly aid when installing the vacuum check valve and/or grommet. Do NOT use soap.

    Object Number: 846588 Size: SH
  1. If the lower vacuum hose and pipe assembly was removed, install the assembly into position on the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the lower vacuum hose and pipe assembly retaining nut.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Object Number: 846575 Size: SH
  5. If the lower vacuum hose and pipe assembly was removed, connect the vacuum hose connector to the vacuum port on the intake manifold. Press the retainer (1) down firmly to secure the connector to the intake manifold port.

  6. Object Number: 846594 Size: SH
  7. Install the upper vacuum hose to the lower vacuum hose and pipe assembly. Install and secure the clamp (2) into position on the hose.
  8. If the vacuum check valve (1) is being replaced, install a NEW grommet to the brake booster.
  9. If the vacuum check valve (1) was separated from the upper vacuum hose, install the check valve (1) to the vacuum hose. Install and secure the clamp into position on the hose.
  10. Connect the vacuum check valve (1) to the brake booster.
