The instrument panel cluster (IPC) performs a diagnostic self-test when the ignition switch is turned on. If the IPC senses a malfunction, this DTC will be stored.
The ignition switch is turned on.
Any of the following conditions will set this DTC:
• | The IPC part number does not match the part number stored in the body control module (BCM) memory. |
• | The IPC make (pontiac, chevrolet) does not match the make stored in the BCM memory. |
• | The IPC vehicle identification number (VIN) does not match the VIN stored in the BCM memory. |
The SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator will illuminate if possible.
• | A current DTC B1001 will clear when a properly operating IPC is installed. |
• | A history DTC will clear if the condition is no longer present after 100 ignition cycles with no current DTCs within the 100 ignition cycles. |
