Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement Standard
Removal Procedure
- Pull the windshield upper
garnish molding (2 or 3) at the roof in order to disengage the clips.
- Pull the windshield upper garnish molding (2 or 3) upward
in order to disengage the molding from the carpet retainer.
Installation Procedure
- Insert the windshield
upper garnish molding (2 or 3) into the carpet retainer.
- Push the windshield upper garnish molding (2 or 3) in order
to engage the clips.

Removal Procedure
- Lower the folding top.
- Remove the sunshade. Refer to
Sunshade Replacement
.
- Rotate the header latch handle down.
- Remove the windshield garnish molding retaining screws.
- Remove the windshield garnish molding.
- Remove the windshield upper molding (3) ends retaining
screws.
- Carefully pull down the front edge of the windshield garnish upper
molding (3).
- Pull the windshield garnish upper molding rearward in order to
disengage the upper windshield garnish molding from the retainer.
Installation Procedure
- Install the windshield
garnish upper molding ends (3) to the retainer.
Rotate the windshield garnish upper molding forward and up.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the windshield
garnish upper molding (3) end retaining screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the windshield garnish molding (2).
- Install the windshield garnish molding retaining screw.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the sunshade. Refer to
Sunshade Replacement
.
- Raise the folding top.
