Depress each door lock switch to LOCK and UNLOCK.

Does the system operate normally?

Are all of the door locks inoperative?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the door locks data parameter in the BCM data list.
  3. Operate the door locks from both switches.

Did the scan tool display an active state?

  1. Disconnect the door lock/unlock relay connector.
  2. Test the battery positive voltage circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the door lock motor circuits for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the suspect switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit and chassis ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the suspect door lock motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the lock control circuit and chassis ground.
  3. Operate the door lock switches and observe the test lamp.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the unlock control circuit and chassis ground.
  2. Operate the door lock switches and observe the test lamp.
