For 1990-2009 cars only

For the DE 100 series radio, complete the following procedure, using a scan tool, in order to properly set up communication:

  1. At the Main Menu screen, select: Diagnostics.
  2. At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the following options:
  3. • (Y) 2000 (Model Year)
    • Passenger Car
  4. At the System Selection Menu screen, select: Body.
  5. At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the J (Platform type).
  6. At the Body screen, select: Base Radio or Uplevel Radio.
  7. At the Radio screen, select: Special Functions.
  8. At the Special Functions screen, select: Radio Setup.
  9. At the Radio Setup screen, press ENTER (The following test will set up a new or existing radio).
  10. Select one of the following Regular Production Options (RPO) using the arrow keys and press ENTER.
  11. • UM6 (Pontiac Only)
    • UM7
    • U1C
    • UPO
    • U1P + UW6
    • U1Q + UW6
    • U1P + U85
    • U1Q + U85
  12. Select one of the following options:
  13. • USA/Canada
    • Export
  14. Press the ENTER key.
  15. Verify that the scan tool displays "Test in Progress."
  16. Verify that the scan tool displays "Test Completed Successfully."
  17. Press EXIT on the scan tool.
  18. Important: The radio set up will configure the following systems:

       • LEARN VIN
       • Diagnostic Trouble Codes
       • Class 2 Radio Messages
       • Country Code
       • Chime Volume
       • Chime Level
       • 12/24 Hour Clock
    Without learning the VIN, the radio will display a locked message (LOC).

    The radio setup procedure will also clear the following messages:

       • CAL
       • CAL ERR
       • CALIBRATE

  19. Cycle the ignition.

Radio setup is complete.

Important: These steps are not part of the radio setup.

The following items may be adjusted independently of the radio setup:

    • Radio Chime Level Selection
    • VIN Relearn

Radio Chime Level Selection

In order to set the Chime Level, begin at the Special Functions screen. Repeat step 1 through step 6 of the Radio Setup, if needed.

  1. At the Special Functions screen, select F1: Set Options.
  2. At the Set Options screen, select F0: Chime Settings.
  3. Important: The F0: Chime Level option does not contain a submenu. The Chime Level setting has an option of setting a normal chime or a loud chime when the radio is replaced.

  4. At the Chime Settings screen, select F0: Chime Level.

VIN Relearn

Important: Without learning the VIN, the radio will display a locked message (LOC or LOCKED).

In order to relearn the VIN, begin at the special functions screen. Repeat step 1 thorough step 6 of the radio setup if needed.

  1. At the special functions screen, select F2, VIN Relearn.
  2. At the VIN Relearn screen, the scan tool will display "Do you want to clear radio theft information?"
  3. To begin clearing, press the soft touch key on the top right of the scan tool. The scan tool will display "Clearing Radio Theft in Progress."
  4. The scan tool will prompt you to "Cycle the Ignition." Radio Theft information was cleared.
  5. Press EXIT on the scan tool and cycle the ignition.
