Visually inspect the LT HDLP fuse for an open.

Is the fuse open?

Go to Step 3

Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems in order to test for a short to ground in the following circuits:

    • Circuit 740 between the LT HDLP fuse and the DRL relay.
    • Circuit 593 between the DRL relay and the left headlamp.

Was a short to ground found?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

Replace the LT HDLP fuse.

Did you complete the replacement?

System OK

  1. Remove the DRL relay.
  2. Backprobe the DRL relay connector terminal 30 with a 15 amp fused jumper wire connected to battery positive voltage.
  3. Turn the headlamps on.

Does the left headlamp operate properly?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Repair the short to ground. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

System OK

Test for an open in circuit 593. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Was a condition found and corrected?

System OK

Go to Step 11

Test for positive battery voltage at terminal 87A of the DRL relay connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is voltage present?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open in circuit 740. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

System OK

Replace the DRL relay.

Replace the left headlamp bulb. Refer to Headlamp Bulb Replacement .
