Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 632605  Size: SH
  3. Loosen the muffler hanger clamp.

  4. Object Number: 632606  Size: SH
  5. Slide the muffler hanger out of the bracket.
  6. Lower the muffler.

  7. Object Number: 632609  Size: SH
  8. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger pin from the rubber hanger. Let the exhaust system rest on the rear trailing axle.
  9. Drill out the 4 forward heat shield rivets.

  10. Object Number: 632613  Size: SH
  11. Drill out the rearward heat shield rivets.
  12. Remove the heat shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 632613  Size: SH
  1. Position the heat shield.
  2. Install the rearward pop rivet.

  3. Object Number: 632612  Size: SH
  4. Install the 4 forward heat shield rivets.

  5. Object Number: 632609  Size: SH
  6. Install the exhaust pipe pin into the rubber hanger.

  7. Object Number: 632606  Size: SH
  8. Slide the muffler hanger into the hanger bracket.

  9. Object Number: 632605  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Tighten the muffler hanger bolt.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
