FRONT INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PROCEDURE TO REMOVE/INSTALL

Models Affected: 1988 - 1989 LEMANS

SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE

The 1988-89 Pontiac LeMans Service Manual does not have a procedure for removal and installation of the front speakers. The correct procedure follows:

FRONT SPEAKERS

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Speaker cover. (Pry off with screwdriver or trim tool). 2. Two screws securing speaker 3. Speaker from instrument panel. 4. Electrical leads from speaker.

IMPORTANT

The front speakers can be difficult to remove and install, as the diameter and shape of the grille opening is different from that of the speaker. The speaker must be turned and forced through the opening at an angle; use care not to damage either speaker or instrument panel.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Speaker electrical leads. Be sure to attach the correct-size lead connector to its corresponding speaker connector. 2. Speaker to vehicle; secure with 2 screws. 3. Speaker cover.
