Cause: Fusible link can become warm because of improperly torqued connection at battery.
Correction: Replace fusible link with a 6 inch long, 3mm2 link*. Solder both ends, at the 10mm feed wire and at the terminal at the battery. Torque battery positive cable to 4.8N.m.
*Note: The battery fusible link size has been changed from 2mm2 to 3mm2.
The generator output fusible link at the starter solenoid has also been changed from 1mm2 to 2mm2.
If either of these fusible links need to be replaced, use the new size. Do not tape over fusible link or insert into a conduit.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
