Removal Procedure
Important: Adjust the cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch together.
Incorrect adjustment of either of these switches may cause the following conditions:

• | An improperly functioning cruise control system |
- Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Fully press the brake pedal.
- Push the switches into
the retainers until the switches are fully seated.
- Pull the brake pedal rearward
against the pedal stop until the audible clicks may no longer be heard.
- Refer to the following brake pedal travel distances in order to
validate the proper cruise control release switch and stoplamp switch adjustment:
• | Actuate the cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch
contacts from 3.5 to 12.5 mm (1/8 to 1/2 in) of brake pedal
travel, measured at the centerline of the brake pedal pad. |
• | Nominal actuation of the stoplamp switch contacts measures 4.5 mm
(3/16 inch) after cruise control release switch actuation. |
- Install the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
