Action

The power steering gear inlet (pressure) hose is grounding out.

Ensure that the power steering gear hoses are routed properly.

The steering gear bearing preload is misadjusted.

Adjust the steering gear bearing preload to specification. Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

The steering gear is loose.

Tighten the steering gear bolts to specification. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

The tie rod end(s) are loose.

Repair or replace the tie rod ends as necessary. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

The steering intermediate shaft is loose.

Repair or replace the steering intermediate shaft as necessary. Refer to Lower/Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
