Removal Procedure

Notice: Allow sufficient clearance around the transaxle oil cooler pipes and around the hoses to prevent damage or wear which may cause fluid loss.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Position the drain pan.
  3. Remove the transaxle oil cooler hoses from the transaxle oil cooler fittings. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Hose Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 190633  Size: SH
  5. Remove the transaxle oil cooler fittings (28 ,29) from the transaxle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply sealant GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent to transaxle oil cooler fittings.

  2. Object Number: 190633  Size: SH

    Important: The correct thread engagement is critical. The cross-threaded fittings can achieve proper tightness and still leak.

  3. Install the transaxle oil cooler fittings (28 ,29) to the transaxle.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle oil cooler fittings to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).

  5. Install the transaxle oil cooler hoses to the transaxle oil cooler fittings. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Hose Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Notice: Do NOT overfill the transaxle. The overfilling of the transaxle causes foaming, loss of fluid, shift complaints, and possible damage to the transaxle.

  8. Adjust the fluid level. Refer to the following information.

  10. Inspect for proper completion of the repairs.
  11. Inspect for fluid leaks.
