Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1618489 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  3. Remove the compressor A/C hoses connector block fitting nut.

    4. Object Number: 1618499 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the under cover.

    6. Object Number: 1618500 Size: SH
  6. Remove the A/C belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement.
  7. Remove the compressor to bracket upper mounting bolt.

    8. Object Number: 1618501 Size: SH
  8. Remove the compressor to bracket lower mounting bolts.
  9. Remove the compressor.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1618501 Size: SH
  1. Install the compressor.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the compressor to bracket lower mounting bolts and tighten to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

    3. Object Number: 1618500 Size: SH
  3. Install the compressor to bracket upper mounting bolt and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

    4. Object Number: 1618499 Size: SH
  4. Install the under cover. Tighten the A/C high pressure pipe line bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
  5. Connect the electrical connector at the compressor. Tighten the A/C low pressure pipe line bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

    6. Object Number: 1618489 Size: SH
  6. Install the A/C refrigerant suction hose and A/C refrigerant discharge hose to connector block retaining bolts.
    7. • Tighten the A/C refrigerant suction hose to connector block retaining bolt to 22.5 N·m (16.5 lb ft).
    • Tighten the A/C refrigerant discharge hose to connector block retaining bolt 22.5 N·m (16.5 lb ft).
  7. Install the A/C belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
  9. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
