Rattle/Vibration in Rear Window Shelf (Install Foam)

Don't Do This

Install foam.

Don't replace the speaker or amplifier.

Condition

Some customers may comment on a rattle or vibration in the rear of the interior of the vehicle with the stereo at high volume.

Cause

The amplifier, speakers or the wiring may not be properly secured in one of the following areas and may be misdiagnosed as a faulty speaker or amplifier.

Correction 1


Object Number: 1674476  Size: MF

Remove the rear speaker and apply a piece of foam to the rear retaining tab.

Correction 2


Object Number: 1674504  Size: SH

Install foam under the wiring. Refer to the arrows in the illustration above.

Install foam under the amplifier.

Correction 4


Object Number: 1674478  Size: SH

Remove and discard the four push-pin retainers.

Install foam on the new push-pin retainers so it acts as an insulator between the retainer and the pin.

Parts Information

This foam is sold in 50' rolls. This roll will service 25 vehicles. Please return unused portion to parts inventory for future use.
