This condition may be due to water getting into the terminals, at connector C405 (P/N 10369313). This connector is part of the fuel tank harness which plugs into the body connector (P/N 15326714) that is located on the under side of the trunk floor near the fuel tank sensor. Terminal "3E" of this connector part number 10369313, is not used but it may not be sealed from the outside of the vehicle. This can result in water entering the connector causing the adjacent terminals to become corroded. Also, the female terminals of the connector may have become spread apart causing an intermittent or poor connection

Recommendation/Instructions:

Important: Inspect the terminals at connector C405 for corrosion or spreading before replacing the fuel module or resistor card kit.

Do not attempt to repair any spread female terminals as this will result in a return repair. The female connector must be replaced. If the terminals show signs of corrosion, be sure to carefully inspect the "male" side of the body connector for any sign's of corrosion. Replace any corroded pins or wiring before reassembling the connectors. Repair any corroded and/or spread female terminals by replacing connector C405 - P/N 10369313. After replacing this connector, seal off the unused terminal 3E with sealer. Service Manual (SI Document ID # 1459446) shows end views of both connectors.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
