Subject: | BCM Programming Procedure for the 2005 Grand Prix and Buick LaCrosse |
Models: | . |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.
The programming procedure in SI is missing some information. SI will be corrected in the near future, until then refer to the programming instructions below.
Tech 2 and vehicle software has changed for 2005. Make sure the Tech 2 is updated to version 24.008 before starting the programming procedure as menus have changed. Procedures and routines for 2004 Grand Prix are ONLY to be used on 2004.
HEATED SEATS OPTION
Service BCM's come with heated seats defaulted on for Allure, LaCrosse, and the Grand Prix. A technician is asked questions pertaining to certain options a vehicle has when performing the BCM setup. The technician must "turn off" (answer no) for heated seats (RPO-KA1) if the vehicle is not equipped with heated seats when setting BCM options, otherwise it will cause DTCs B2508 and B2509 to set. One may not disable the heated seat option after the BCM setup is complete as the BCM is now locked. This changed for 2005 and was driven by the remote start feature and selling it as a GMSPO option. Most of the options are contained in the same "secure" block of data.
REMOTE START
A screen is posted on the Tech 2 if remote start is to be enabled (turned on). SPS programming must be used to enable remote start. The normal SPS programming process will not work, Pass-Through must be used. One may not enable the remote start option after the BCM setup is complete as the BCM is now locked. BE CAREFUL when answering the setup questions. Verify what options the vehicle has before performing the setup. Once the BCM setup is complete the BCM will have to be replaced to change any of the options.
BCM REPLACEMENT AND PROGRAMMING
