The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.
Due to a software concern there will be no chime when programming key fobs to the 2004 - 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix.
2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX KEY FOB PROGRAMMING:
When programming key fobs to the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix with the Tech 2, it will ask you to hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob. After 15 - 30 seconds the question "Did you hear a chime" will appear on the Tech 2 , Select yes. Due to a software concern you will not hear a chime. After programming the key fobs exit out of all the menus until you get to the start screen. Then turn the ignition key off for one minute. The path for the 2004 is build the vehicle> select BCM> select special functions> select program key fobs> select the number of key fobs to program> follow the on screen directions.
2005 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX KEY FOB PROGRAMMING:
When programming key fobs to the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix with the Tech 2, it will ask you to hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob. After 15 - 30 seconds the question "Did you hear a chime" will appear on the Tech 2, select yes. Due to a software concern you will not hear a chime. Also on the 05 Grand Prix when programming key fobs it does not ask you how many fobs you would like to program. So after you select yes for hearing a chime (even though there is no chime) the Tech 2 will ask you to hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob. The Tech 2 will continue to ask this message even after you have programmed 2 fobs for example. After programming all the key fobs exit out of all the menus until you get to the start screen. Then turn the ignition key off for one minute. The path for the 2005 is build the vehicle> select body and accessories> select the engine the vehicle is equipped with> select keyless entry> select special functions> select BCM> select miscellaneous test> select program key fobs> follow the on screen directions.
