Info - Verification of OnStar Audio Level (Volume Adjustment) During Pre-Delivery Inspection

Subject:Verification of OnStar® Audio Level (Volume Adjustment) During Pre-Delivery Inspection

Models:2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Certain 2004 Grand Prix model vehicles have been identified where the connection to the OnStar® prompt or any subsequent connection to the OnStar® Call Center is unable to be heard. The OnStar® LED in the mirror will be green or flashing green following the button press.

This could be misdiagnosed as either a no-connect concern or a lack of response from the button assembly. However, this issue is actually due to a change in the radio software that results in the minimum OnStar® volume set below the hearing threshold.

It is being advised that the OnStar® audio level be verified during the pre-delivery inspection (PDI). To correct the OnStar® volume, press the blue OnStar® button. Then, using the radio volume knob, increase the volume until the OnStar® audio can be heard comfortably.

Once this procedure has been performed, the system will maintain this volume setting indefinitely or until battery power is interrupted.
