Subject: | Adm Msg -- AGM Battery Parts Return Program |
Models: | 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix |
Attention: | Service Manager and Parts Manager |
The Warranty Parts Center will soon begin requesting Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries as part of the GM Parts Return Program. The ACDelco AGM battery, currently used in 2004 model Pontiac Grand Prix, is considered non-hazardous for purposes of transportation by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Batteries requested for return should be packaged securely to withstand conditions normal to transportation. The package must be clearly marked "NON-SPILLABLE". This can be done with a black permanent felt-tip marker on a white self-adhesive label. Transfer any plastic terminal protector plugs from the new battery to the returned unit.
Important: The parts return program applies only to ACDelco AGM batteries used in the 2004 Grand Prix. Do not return liquid or fluid filled type batteries through this process.
The AGM battery can be identified by the top post design and the label reads "AGM Battery" or "Non-Spillable Absorbent Glass Mat Battery".
Remember to properly test the AGM batteries before replacing them. If you're using the original GM J 42000 (Midtronic 410) tester, you need to add 100 CCA to the rated CCA of the battery when testing. For the new J 42000EU (Midtronic 411) tester you select "AGM" when testing and don't add the 100 CCA.
