Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC) trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Grind the material from the heat stakes at the base of the air outlet deflector housing.
- Remove the air outlet deflector housing from the IPC trim plate.
- Using a small flat-bladed tool, disconnect the sides of the deflector housing.
- Open the deflector housing in order to expose the deflectors.
- Remove the deflectors from the housing by pressing out from the front to the rear.
Installation Procedure
- Install the air outlet deflectors to the housing by pressing in from the rear to the front.
- Connect the sides of the deflector housing by pressing together until fully seated.
- Position the deflector housing to the remaining unused heat stakes.
Important: If no unused heat stakes are available use LOCTITE® Black Max P/N 38050, or equivalent and Perma-Bond® accelerator P/N QFF16, or equivalent on the heat stakes.
- Melt the new heat stakes tabs using a soldering iron with a wide tip.
- Inspect the deflectors for proper operation.
- Install the IPC trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
