Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the Tires and Wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 305363  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the ABS electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor (1).

  5. Object Number: 614975  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the trailing arm (1) from the knuckle.

  7. Object Number: 614971  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the trailing arm (1) from the trailing arm bracket.

  9. Object Number: 156949  Size: SH
  10. Remove the trailing arm (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 156949  Size: SH
  1. Connect the trailing arm (1) to the trailing arm bracket (2).

  2. Object Number: 614971  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bracket bolt and nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket nut (1) to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  5. Connect the trailing arm to the knuckle.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the trailing arm to knuckle nut (1) to 70 N·m (52 lb ft) + 65 degrees.

  7. Connect the ABS electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor (1).
  8. Install the Tires and Wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
