Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the exhaust pipe. Refer to Muffler Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  4. Disconnect the brake lines from the rear suspension support. Refer to Rear Brake Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  5. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the suspension support. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement in Park Brake.
  6. Disconnect the stabilizer shaft nuts from the rear stabilizer shaft links.
  7. Disconnect the stabilizer shaft bolts from the rear suspension support.
  8. Important: Support the rear suspension support with jack stands before removing the mounting bolts.

  9. Remove the rear suspension support mounting bolts.
  10. Disconnect the rear wheel spindle rods bolts from the knuckle.
  11. Lower the rear suspension support in order to gain access to the rear wheel spindle rod bolts.
  12. Disconnect the rear wheel spindle rods bolts from the rear suspension support.
  13. Remove the rear suspension support.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 156917  Size: SH
  1. Position the rear suspension support in place.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the rear wheel spindle rod-to-rear suspension support bolts and nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear wheel spindle rod-to-rear suspension support nuts to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).

  5. Install 2 locating pins in the suspension support alignment holes, one on each side of the suspension support.
  6. Install the rear suspension support mounting bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the rear suspension support mounting bolts to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  8. Remove the locating pins from the suspension support alignment holes.
  9. Position the rear wheel spindle rod to the knuckle.
  10. Install the retaining bolts and nuts to the knuckle.

    Tighten
    Tighten the rear spindle rod-to-knuckle retaining nut to 150 N·m (110 lb ft).

  11. Install the stabilizer shaft brackets to the rear suspension support.
  12. Important: Insert the bracket bolts facing rearward. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.

  13. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket bolts to the rear suspension support.
  14. Install the stabilizer shaft-to-stabilizer shaft link nuts.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nuts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  16. Connect the stabilizer shaft to the rear suspension support.
  17. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket bolts.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft insulator bracket bolts to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  19. Connect the brake lines to the rear suspension support. Refer to Rear Brake Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  20. Install the parking brake cables and the tensioner. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement in Park Brake.
  21. Install the exhaust pipe. Refer to Muffler Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  22. Install the Tires and Wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  23. Lower the vehicle.
  24. Adjust the rear wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
