Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent
surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Pull back the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
in Body
Rear End.
- Remove the bolts from
the rear bumper fascia.
- Remove the nuts from the rear bumper fascia.
- Remove the push-in retainers from the splash shield.
- Remove the license lamp. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the push-in retainers from the rear bumper fascia usingJ 38778
.
- Remove the rear push-in retainers from the rear bumper fascia
to the rear end panel usingJ 38778
.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Align the rear bumper
fascia to the vehicle.
- Install the push-in retainers to the rear bumper fascia at the
rear end panel.
- Install the push-in retainers to the rear bumper fascia at the
rear bumper impact bar.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear quarter panel to rear bumper fascia bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the rear quarter panel to rear bumper fascia bolts to 5 N·m
(44 lb in).
- Install the rear end panel to rear bumper fascia nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the rear end panel to rear bumper fascia nuts to 5 N·m
(44 lb in).
- Install the license lamp. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Install the push-in retainers to the rear bumper fascia at the
splash shield.
- Install the rear compartment trim panels. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
in Body
Rear End.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the protective tape that may have been applied during the
removal procedure.
