  1. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  2. Close all the vehicle doors.
  3. Press LOCK and then UNLOCK on the driver's door lock switch while observing the door locks.
  4. Press LOCK and then UNLOCK on the passenger door lock switch while observing the door locks.

Do all doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch?

Resynchronize the transmitters using the following procedure:

  1. Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the keyless entry transmitter for 7 seconds, 1 transmitter at a time.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder lock.
  3. Close all the vehicle doors.
  4. Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter once while observing the door locks.
  5. Press the UNLOCK button twice on the keyless entry transmitter while observing the door locks.
  6. Press the alarm button (if equipped) on the keyless entry transmitter, while observing the headlamps and listening to the horn.

Does the keyless entry system operate the following components?

    • The door locks
    • The rear compartment lid
    • The alarm (if equipped)

  1. Remove the transmitter batteries.
  2. Use a DMM to measure the voltage on each transmitter battery.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

3-3.5 V

  1. Reprogram all the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
  2. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder lock.
  3. Close all the vehicle doors.
  4. Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter once while observing the door locks.
  5. Press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter twice while observing the door locks.
  6. Press the rear compartment button on the keyless entry transmitter while observing the rear compartment lid.
  7. Press the alarm button (if equipped) on the keyless entry transmitter while observing the headlamps and listening to the horn.

Does the keyless entry system operate the following components?

    • The door locks
    • The rear compartment lid
    • The alarm (if equipped)

  1. Program a known good transmitter. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
  2. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder lock.
  3. Close all the vehicle doors.
  4. Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter once while observing the door locks.
  5. Press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter twice while observing the door locks.
  6. Press the rear compartment button on the keyless entry transmitter once while observing the rear compartment lid.
  7. Press the alarm button (if equipped) on the keyless entry transmitter while observing the headlamps and listening to the horn.

Does the keyless entry system operate the following components?

    • The door locks
    • The rear compartment lid
    • The alarm (if equipped)

Inspect the RADIO BATT Fuse.

Is the RADIO BATT Fuse open?

  1. Replace the RADIO BATT Fuse.
  2. Inspect the RADIO BATT Fuse again.

Is the RADIO BATT Fuse open again?

  1. Disconnect the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR).
  2. Connect a test lamp between the RCDLR harness connector terminal A and terminal C.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect test lamp between the RCDLR harness connector terminal C and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Replace the transmitter batteries.

Repair the short to ground in circuit 640.

  1. Inspect for a poor connections at the RCDLR.
  2. If the connection is OK, replace the RCDLR.
