Has the vehicle been inspected for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)?

  1. Use a fused 3 amp jumper in order to backprobe from the instrument cluster head-up display (HUD) harness connector terminal A3 and ground.
  2. Set the instrument cluster HUD dimmer switch to the ON position.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the check gauges indicator ON after the initial self-test?

  1. Replace the instrument cluster head-up display (HUD). Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement .
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Disconnect the oil pressure indicator switch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a fused 3 amp jumper between the oil pressure indicator switch terminal A and ground.

Is the check gauges indicator ON after the initial self-test?

Use a digital multimeter (DMM) in order to measure the resistance between the oil pressure indicator switch terminal A and ground.

Does the DMM show a short to ground?

  1. Replace the oil pressure indicator switch. Refer to one of the following procedures:
  2. •  Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls - 3.1L (LG8)
  3. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Repair the open or the poor connection in CKT 31 between the instrument cluster HUD harness connector terminal A4 and the oil pressure indicator switch.
  2. Inspect the system.

  1. Turn the instrument cluster HUD dimmer switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Use a fused 3 amp jumper between the instrument cluster HUD harness connector terminal A4 and ground.

Is the check gauges indicator ON after the initial self-test?

  1. Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) harness connector C2.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a fused 3 amp jumper between the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 75 and ground.

Is the check gauges indicator on after the initial self-test?

  1. Repair the open or the poor connection in CKT 35 between the instrument cluster HUD harness connector terminal A4 and the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 75.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Use a fused 3 amp jumper in order to backprobe between the instrument cluster HUD harness connector terminal A2 and ground.
  2. Set the instrument cluster HUD dimmer switch to the ON position.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the check gauges indicator ON after the initial self-test?

  1. Disconnect the PCM harness connector C1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a fused 3 amp jumper between the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 36 and ground.

Is the check gauges indicator on after the initial self-test?

  1. Repair the open or the poor connection in CKT 25 between the instrument cluster HUD harness connector terminal A2 and the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 36.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Replace the PCM. Refer to one of the following procedures:

  3. Inspect the system.
