Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment.
- Reposition the remote compact disc player, if equipped. Refer
to
Remote Compact Disc Player Replacement
.
- Disconnect the antenna extension cable from the fixed antenna.
- Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the right carpet retainer. Refer to
Front Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the lower trim panel from the right center pillar.
- Adjust the right side
carpet in order to gain access to the wiring harness.
- Remove the right instrument panel (IP) insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges and Console.
- Remove the IP compartment. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the radio. Refer to
Radio Replacement
.
- Cut off the visible ends of the antenna extension cables to be
replaced:
• | If you are replacing the antenna front extension cable, cut off
the end which connects to the radio. Disconnect the front extension cable
from the rear extension cable along the front door hinge pillar, then cut
off the end of the front cable. |
• | If you are replacing the antenna rear extension cable, disconnect
the rear extension cable from the front extension cable along the front door
hinge pillar. Cut off the end of the rear cable which connects to the fixed
antenna. |
Important: Note the antenna extension cables routing before removal.
- Remove the antenna extension cables.
Installation Procedure
- Install the antenna extension
cables as noted before removal.
Important: Ensure that the cable is secured to the harness at least every 150 mm
(6 in) to aid in protecting and routing the cables.
- Use electrical tape in order to secure the antenna extension cables
along the outside of the wiring harness.
- Connect the front extension cable to the rear extension cable
along the front door hinge pillar.
- Install the radio. Refer to
Radio Replacement
.
- Install the instrument panel (IP) compartment. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges and Console.
- Install the right IP insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Install the carpet.
- Install the lower trim panel to the right center pillar.
- Install the right carpet retainer. Refer to
Front Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
in Seats.
- Connect the antenna extension
cable to the fixed antenna.
- Install the remote compact disc player, if equipped. Refer to
Remote Compact Disc Player Replacement
.
- Close the rear compartment.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the right upper
quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Loosen and lower the rear of the headliner in order to gain access.
Refer to

Trim.
- Disconnect the rear extension cable from the antenna amplifier.
- Disconnect the rear extension cable from the antenna middle extension
cable.
Important: Observe the routing of the antenna rear extension cable before you remove
the cable.
- Remove the tape which retains the rear extension cable along the rear
door lock pillar. Remove the rear cable.
- Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the right carpet
retainer. Refer to
Front Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the lower trim panel from the right center pillar.
- Pull back the right side of the carpet in order to gain access
to the wiring harness.
- Remove the right instrument panel (IP) insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges and Console.
- Remove the IP compartment. Refer to
Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the radio. Refer to
Radio Replacement
.
- Cut off the visible ends of the front and/or the middle antenna
extension cables to be replaced:
• | If you are replacing the antenna front extension cable, cut off
the end which connects to the radio; disconnect the front extension cable
from the middle extension cable along the front door hinge pillar, then cut
off the end of the front cable. |
• | If you are replacing the antenna middle extension cable, disconnect
the middle extension cable from the front extension cable along the front
door hinge pillar. Cut off the end of the middle cable which connects to the
rear extension cable. |
Important: Observe the routing of the antenna extension cables before you remove
the cables.
- Remove the antenna extension cables.
Installation Procedure
- Install the antenna extension

- Install the right carpet retainer. Refer to

- Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
in Seats.
- Position the rear extension
cable along the rear door lock pillar as noted before removal. Secure the
cable with tape.
- Connect the rear extension cable to the middle extension cable.
- Connect the rear extension cable to the antenna amplifier.
- Install the headliner. Refer to
Headlining Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the right upper quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in
Interior Trim.
