Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the engine air cleaner. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls--3.1L
or
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls--3.8L.
- Remove the brake modulator bracket. Refer to
Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement
in Antilock
Brake System.
- Remove the liquid line/suction line bracket.
- Remove the suction line
nut (3) at the accumulator.
- Position the suction line
aside at the accumulator.
- Remove the suction line
block fitting bolt.
Important: Use care when removing the suction line.
- Remove the suction line.
- Remove and discard he suction line O-rings seals.
Installation Procedure
Important: The new O-ring seals must be lubricated with mineral base 525 viscosity
refrigerant oil.
- Install the new O-ring seals onto the suction line. Refer to
O-Ring Replacement
- Install the suction line into place.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the suction
line block fitting bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the suction line block fitting bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the suction line
nut (3) at the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the suction line nut to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).
- Install the liquid line/suction line bracket.
- Install the brake modulator bracket. Refer to
Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement
in Antilock
Brake System.
- Install the engine air cleaner. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls--3.1L
or
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls--3.8L.
- Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Test the component fittings for leaks using J 39400
.
