PCM, Engine Coolant Level Indicator Module, Windshield Washer Solvent Level Switch

Object Number: 593661 Size: FS
for a wiring diagram.

Circuit Description

The battery voltage is supplied to the indicator lamp in the cluster. The ground path from the lamp is through the oil pressure switch. When the oil pressure is low, the switch closes, illuminating the lamp.

Diagnostic Aids

Inspect for the following conditions:

    • Poor connections--Inspect the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and harness connectors for the following conditions:
       - Backed-out terminals
       - Improper mating
       - Broken locks
       - Improperly-formed terminals
       - Damaged terminals
       - Poor terminal-to-wire connections
    • A damaged harness--Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears OK, disconnect the engine oil pressure switch, turn ON the ignition, and observe a Digital Multimeter connected between the engine oil pressure switch connector terminal and ground while moving the wiring harnesses that are related to the engine oil pressure switch circuit. A change in voltage will indicate the location of the fault.
