Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement 3.1L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 515071  Size: SH
  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  4. Object Number: 284303  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering hoses from the power steering cooler pipe.
  6. Remove the power steering cooler pipe retaining clip bolt from the frame.
  7. Remove the power steering cooler pipe from the retaining clips on the frame.
  8. Remove the power steering cooler pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering cooler pipe to the retaining clips on the frame.

  2. Object Number: 284303  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering cooler pipe retaining clip bolt to the frame.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering cooler pipe retaining clip bolt to 9.5 N·m (84 lb in).

  5. Install the power steering hoses to the power steering cooler pipe.

  6. Object Number: 515071  Size: SH
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in General Information.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  11. Check the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
  12. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  5. Remove the power steering hoses from the power steering cooler pipe.
  6. Remove the power steering cooler pipe retaining clip bolt from the frame.
  7. Remove the power steering cooler pipe from the retaining clips on the frame.
  8. Remove the power steering cooler pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering cooler pipe to the retaining clips on the frame.
