Removal Procedure
- For the overhead console without storage compartment, perform
the following steps.
- Insert a flat-bladed tool
in the side opposite the windshield and unsnap the overhead console.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the console from the car.
- For the overhead console with the storage compartments, perform
the following steps.
- Insert a flat-bladed tool in the side opposite the windshield
and unsnap the overhead console lamp.
- Disconnect the electric connector.
- Insert a flat-bladed tool in the storage compartments and unsnap
the storage units.
- Remove the overhead console
screws.
- Remove the overhead console housing.
- Remove the backing plate.
Installation Procedure
- For the overhead console without storage compartment, perform
the following steps.
- Connect the electric connector.
- Press the console back
into the roof.
Make sure the retainers snap back to secure the unit.
- For the overhead console with the storage compartments, perform
the following steps.
- Install the backing plate.
- Install the overhead console housing.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the overhead
console screws.
Tighten
Tighten the overhead console screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Press the storage units back into the console.
Make sure the retainers snap back to secure the unit.
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Install the overhead console reading lamp.
