Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 310877  Size: SH
  3. Remove the two rear roll pins (2).
  4. Discard the roll pins.

  5. Remove the two pivot bolts.
  6. For the passenger side only, disconnect the E/Z entry cable from the seat adjuster and the tie strap. Retain the cable to the seat bottom.
  7. Remove the emergency release lever knob.
  8. Discard the lever knob.

  9. Remove the seat back cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover Replacement .
  10. Remove the seat back lock bolts.
  11. Remove the inertia seat back lock assembly (1) from the seat.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the inertia seat back lock assembly (1) to the seat back.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 4 seat back lock bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the inertia seat back lock bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the seat back cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover Replacement .
  6. Install the new emergency release knob.
  7. For the passenger side only, route the E/Z entry cable. Ensure that the routing of the cable is the same as before removal.
  8. For the passenger side only, connect the cable to the seat adjuster.
  9. For the passenger side only, attach the cable seat bottom with the tie strap.
  10. Install the two pivot bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the pivot bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Install the two new rear roll pins (2).
  13. Perform the out of vehicle inertia lock inspection lock system check. Refer to Seat - Back Lock Diagnosis .
  14. Install the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
