Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Two-Way Manual

Removal Porcedure

  1. Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 310454  Size: SH
  3. Remove the front seat with the adjusters attached.
  4. Place the seat upside down on a clean, protected surface.
  5. Do not leave the seat upside down on the cushion.

  6. Remove the finish panels. Refer to Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement .
  7. Remove the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  8. Remove the adjuster to seat cushion frame bolts.
  9. Remove the adjuster from the seat cushion frame.
  10. Remove the adjuster crosswire and assist springs.
  11. Remove the E/Z entry cable from the adjuster, if equipped.
  12. Separate the left and the right adjusters by removing the crossbrace.

Installation Procedure

  1. Attach a crossbrace to the left and the right adjusters.
  2. Ensure that the tab bending downward at the center of the crossbrace faces the rear of the adjusters.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Secure the crossbrace with two bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the crossbrace bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Install the crosswire and assist springs.
  7. Important: Install the right and left seat adjuster sliding mechanism in the same position that the mechanism had when you attached the adjuster-to-seat bottom frame.

    Install the adjuster assembly to the floorpan attachments before you attach the adjusters to the seat. Use the floorpan as a guide during assembly in order to ensure correct adjuster alignment. The floorpan will act as an assembly fixture.

  8. Install the adjuster assembly to the floorpan.
  9. Install the seat adjuster to floorpan bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the adjuster to floorpan bolts to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  11. Install the seat to the adjuster assembly.
  12. Install the adjuster to the seat cushion frame bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the adjuster to the seat cushion frame bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  14. Install the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  15. Install the finish panels. Refer to Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement .
  16. Connect the electrical connectors, if equipped.
  17. Install the E/Z entry cable to the adjuster, if equipped.
  18. Inspect the operation of the manual seat adjusters.

Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Six-Way Power

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 310458  Size: SH
  3. Remove the front seat with the adjusters attached.
  4. Place the front seat upside down on a clean protected surface.
  5. Do not leave the seat upside down on the cushion.

  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors, if equipped.
  7. Remove the finish panels. Refer to Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  9. Remove the adjuster to seat cushion frame bolts.
  10. Remove the adjuster from the seat cushion frame.
  11. Remove the drive cables. Refer to Horizontal and Vertical Drive Cables.
  12. Separate the left and the right adjusters by removing the crossbrace bolts and the crossbrace.

Installation Procedure

  1. Attach a crossbrace to the left and the right adjusters.
  2. Ensure that the tab bending downward at the center of the crossbrace faces the rear of the adjusters.

These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Secure the crossbrace with 2 bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Install the drive cables. Refer to Horizontal and Vertical Drive Cables.
  7. Important: Install the right and left seat adjuster sliding mechanism in the same position that the mechanism had when you attached the adjuster-to-seat bottom frame.

    Install the adjuster assembly to the floorpan attachments before you attach the adjusters to the seat. Use the floorpan as a guide during assembly in order to ensure correct adjuster alignment.

  8. Install the adjuster assembly to the floorpan.
  9. Install the seat adjuster to floorpan bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the adjuster to floorpan bolts to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  11. Install the seat to the adjuster assembly.
  12. Install the adjuster to the seat cushion frame bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the adjuster to the seat cushion frame bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  14. Install the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
  15. Install the finish panels. Refer to Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement .
  16. Connect the electrical connectors, if equipped.
  17. Inspect the power seat adjusters. Verify that the adjusters are parallel and in phase with each other. If one adjuster reaches its maximum horizontal or vertical travel in a given direction before the other adjuster, the adjusters are out of phase.
  18. Complete the following steps if there is horizontal travel:
  19. 13.1. Operate the seat control switch until one adjuster reaches the full forward position.
    13.2. Disconnect the horizontal drive cable from the adjuster that has reached the full forward position.
    13.3. Operate the seat forward until the other adjuster reaches the full forward position.
    13.4. Connect the horizontal drive cable.
    13.5. Inspect the seat for correct horizontal travel.
  20. Complete the following steps if there is front or rear vertical travel:
  21. • Operate the seat control switch until one of the adjusters has reached the full raised positions at the front and rear vertical limits.
    • Disconnect both of the vertical drive cables from the adjuster that has reached the full raised position.
    • Operate the seat control switch until the other adjuster reaches the full raised positions at the front and rear vertical limits.
    • Connect the front and rear vertical drive cables.
    • Operate the adjusters through 1 or 2 complete cycles. Inspect the seat for correct vertical travel.
    • If the adjusters are out of phase after the test cycle, repeat the above steps as needed.
