Removal Procedure
Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads
must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury
and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in
Engine Electrical.
- Remove the shift control knob and indicator bezel. Refer to
Transmission Control Replacement
in Automatic
Transaxle.
- Remove the rear storage
compartment (1), if equipped remove the front storage compartment (2).
- Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to
Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Remove the front floor
console bolts at the base of the rear storage compartment.
- Remove the front floor console bolts at the transaxle shift lever
mounting bracket.
- Remove 2 screws at the front of the floor console.
- Disconnect the electrical
connectors.
- Pull the front floor console rearward in order to release the
front floor console from the guide pins in the instrument panel (IP).
- Remove the front floor console from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the front floor
console to the vehicle.
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Align the front floor console to the guide pins in the instrument
panel (IP).
- Push the front floor console forward into the IP until the front
floor console guide pins are fully seated.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front
floor console bolts at the transaxle shift lever mounting bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the front floor console bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Install the front floor console bolts at the base of the rear
storage compartment.
Tighten
• | Tighten the front floor console bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in). |
• | Tighten the front floor console screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in). |
- Install the shift control knob and indicator bezel. Refer to
Transmission Control Replacement
in Automatic
Transaxle.
- Install the rear storage
compartment (1), if equipped install the front storage compartment (2).
- Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to
Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Connect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in
Engine Electrical.
