Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 38778 Door Trim
Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent
surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Remove the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
in Body
Rear End.
- Remove the bolts attaching
the rear bumper fascia to the body.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia to splash shield push--in retainers.
- Remove the license lamp. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- UseJ 38778
to
remove the push---in retainers attaching the rear bumper fascia to the
rear bumper impact bar.
- Remove the bolts attaching the rear bumper fascia to the rear
end panel.
- UseJ 38778
to
remove the rear push--in retainers attaching the rear bumper fascia to
the rear end panel.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Align the rear bumper
fascia to the vehicle.
- Install the push--in retainers attaching the rear bumper
fascia to the rear end panel.
- Install the push--in retainers attaching the rear bumper
fascia to the rear bumper impact bar.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
attaching the rear bumper fascia to the rear end panel.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts attaching the rear bumper fascia to rear end panel
to 5 N·m(44 lb in).
- Install the license lamp. Refer to
Rear License Lamp Replacement
in Lighting Systems.
- Install the push--in retainers attaching the rear bumper
fascia to the splash shield.
- Install the bolts attaching the rear bumper fascia to the body.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts attaching the rear bumper fascia to rear end panel
to 5 N·m(44 lb in).
- Install the rear compartment trim panels. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
in Body
Rear End.
- Install rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Remove any protective tape that may have been applied during the
removal procedure.
