Inspect the sensitivity level of the shock sensor. Refer to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Circuit Description .

Is the shock sensor sensitivity OK?

  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Close all the vehicle doors.
  4. Observe the courtesy lights and tap gently on the inside door trim panels, near the door latches.

Are the courtesy lights off?

  1. Close the rear compartment lid and latch it.
  2. Observe the Driver Information Display (DID) or trip computer, if equipped and tap gently around the rear compartment lid near the latch.

Is the rear compartment lid ajar indicator off?

  1. Disconnect the shock sensor electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  3. Use a DMM to measure the resistance between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal D14 and ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

OL (infinite)

  1. Leave the DMM connected.
  2. Disconnect the rear compartment lid lock electrical connector.
  3. Use the DMM to measure the resistance again.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

OL (infinite)

The content theft deterrent system is malfunctioning due to a malfunction between the BCM and the door lock ajar switches. Refer to Interior Lamps System Check in Lighting Systems.

The content theft deterrent system is malfunctioning due to a malfunction between the BCM and the rear compartment ajar switch. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Driver Information Systems in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reconnect the connectors/components removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator and sounds the chime 4 times. This identifies the BCM type installed on the vehicle.
  5. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position.
  6. Turn the ignition switch back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
