Important: If the ignition switch is moved to the OFF position during in the customization
procedure, the theft deterrent/shock sensor customization procedure will be
terminated. The system will remain in the most recent mode.
- Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to
Fuse Block Details in Electrical Diagnosis.
- Turn the ignition to the ACC position. The chime will sound 1-4
times in order to indicate which BCM version is installed on the vehicle.
- Turn the park lamp switch to the ON position and back to the OFF
position.
The seatbelt indicator flashes and the chime sounds 1-4 times.
These actions indicate which mode the vehicle is in.
- The mode number advances each time that the park lamp switch is
turned ON. A transition part mode 4 will repeat, starting again at
mode 1.
Complete the following steps in order to exit and save the current customization:
4.1. | Turn the ignition OFF. |
4.2. | Customize any other features. |
4.3. | Replace the MALL PGM fuse back into the fuse panel. |
Theft Deterrent/ Shock Sensor Modes
The theft deterrent/ shock sensor modes have the following features:
| The horn sounds and the headlamps flash for 2 minutes if any
of the following actions occur while the content theft deterrent system is
armed: |
- | The shock sensor is triggered. |
- | The rear compartment lid is opened. |
| The horn sounds and the headlamps flash for 2 minutes if any
of the following actions occur while the content theft deterrent system is
armed. The system ignores the shock sensor: |
- | The rear compartment lid is opened. |
| The content theft deterrent system remains disarmed at all times. |
- | The following actions occur if any door or the rear compartment
lid is open while the system is armed: |
• | The headlamps flash for 2 minutes. |
- | The following actions occur if the shock sensor is triggered: |
• | The headlamp flashes five times rapidly. |
- | The following actions occur when the shock sensor is triggered
5 times: |
• | The headlamps flash for 2 minutes. |
Theft Deterrent Arm/Disarm Customization
Important: If the ignition switch is moved to the OFF position during the customization
procedure, the theft deterrent arm/disarm customization procedure will be
terminated. The system will remain in the most recent mode.
To customize the theft deterrent arm/disarm control features:
- Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to Fuse Block
Details in Electrical Diagnosis.
- Turn the ignition to the ACC position. The chime will sound 1-4
times in order to indicate which BCM version is installed on the vehicle.
- Insert the door lock key into the door lock cylinder.
- Rotate and leave the key in the UNLOCK position.
- Press the transmitter alarm button. The seatbelt indicator flashes
and the chime sounds 1-4 times. These actions indicate which mode the
vehicle is in.
- The mode number advances each time that the transmitter alarm
button is pressed. A transition part mode 3 will repeat, starting again
at mode 1.
Complete the following steps in order to exit and save the current customization:
6.1. | Turn the ignition OFF. |
6.2. | Customize any other features. |
6.3. | Replace the MALL PGM fuse back into the fuse panel. |
Theft Deterrent Arm/Disarm Modes
The theft deterrent arm/disarm modes have the following features:
- | The system arms when you use the keyless entry transmitter in
order to lock the doors. |
- | The system disarms when you use the key or the keyless entry transmitter
in order to unlock the doors. |
- | The system does not arm when you use either of the power door
lock switches in order to lock the doors. |
- | The system arms when you use the keyless entry transmitter in
order to lock the doors. |
- | The system disarms when you use the keyless entry transmitter
in order to unlock the doors. |
- | The system does not disarm when you use a key in order to unlock
the doors. |
- | The system arms when you use either power door lock switch or
the keyless entry transmitter in order to lock the doors. |
- | The system disarms when you use the key or the keyless entry transmitter
in order to unlock the doors. |
Mode 2 provides increased security, but the only way to disarm
the system is to press unlock on the keyless entry transmitter. This can cause
difficulty if the keyless entry transmitter is damaged or lost, or if the
transmitter fails to operate. When the system is armed, the content theft
deterrent system's fuel disable feature prevents the engine from starting.
Perform the following procedure to change the feature customization
modes:
- Turn off the IP dimmer switch.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
• | The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator. |
• | The BCM sounds the chime 4 times. This identifies that the BCM
type 4 is installed on the vehicle. |
- To change the theft deterrent/shock sensor mode, turn the headlamp
switch from the OFF position to the PARK position and back to the OFF position.
• | The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator. |
• | The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the theft
deterrent/shock sensor mode. A transition past mode 4 repeats the sequence
starting with mode 1. |
- To change the theft deterrent arm/disarm modes mode, insert the
key in the door lock cylinder.
- Rotate the key from the center to unlock position and back to
the center position.
• | The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator. |
• | The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the theft
deterrent arm/disarm mode. A transition past mode 3 repeats the sequence starting
with mode 1. |
Complete the following steps in order to exit and save the current feature
customization modes:
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Reinstall the MALL PGM fuse.
