  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Move the turn signal switch to the left turn signal position and, then, to the right turn position while observing the turns signal lights.

Do the turn lamps turn ON and OFF when the turn signal switch is in either the left or the right turn position?

Test drive the vehicle.

Does the speedometer operate?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Move the turn signal switch to the left turn position.
  3. Use a test light in order to probe between the BCM connector C2 terminal C14 and ground.

Does the test light flash along with the left turn lamps?

  1. Move the turn signal switch to the right turn position.
  2. Use a test light in order to probe between the BCM connector C2 and terminal C12 and ground.

Does the test light flash along with the right turn lamps?

Use a DMM in order to measure the voltage between the BCM connector C2 terminal C15 and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

5 Volts

The turn signal reminder is inoperative due to a malfunction of the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) circuit. Refer to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check (3.1) in Engine Controls or Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check (3.8) in Engine Controls.

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C2 terminal C15 for a poor connection.
  2. Replace the BCM if the connection is OK. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Install any connectors or components that were removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  7. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type that is installed on the vehicle.

  8. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position, and then back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any stored DTC's.
