DEFINITION: The BCM does not sound the fasten seat belt reminder chime. The BCM does not turn on the fasten belts indicator lamp in the instrument cluster. The chime and the lamp are inoperative when turning the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position with the driver's seat belt unfastened.

  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  5. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type that is installed in the vehicle. Refer to Body Control System Circuit Description in Body Control System.

  6. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position, then back to the ACC position.
  7. The BCM sounds any stored DTC's. Refer to Body Control System Circuit Description in Body Control System.

  8. Fasten and release the driver's seat belt.

Does the chime sound 1 time when the driver's seat belt is fastened?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reinstall the MALL PGM fuse.
  3. Ensure that the driver's seat belt is unfastened.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position while observing the fasten seat belts indicator and listening for the chime.

Does the fasten indicator chime for 4-8 seconds and the indicator lamp turn ON for 63-77 seconds?

  1. Ensure that the driver's seat belt is unfastened.
  2. Use a test light in order to backprobe between B+ and the BCM connector C2 terminal D1.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the driver's seat belt switch electrical connector.
  2. Use a test light in order to probe between B+ and the driver's seat belt switch harness connector terminal B.

Does the test light illuminate?

Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the driver's seat belt switch connector terminals A and B (switch side).

Is the resistance within the specified range?

Less than 2 ohms

The malfunction is not present at this time. Refer to Audible Warnings Circuit Description for additional information regarding the operation of the fasten seat belt reminder and indicator lamp.

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C2 terminal D1 for a poor connection.
  2. Replace the BCM if the connection is OK. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Repair the poor connection or the open in circuit 750.

Repair the poor connection or the open in circuit 238.

Replace the driver's seat belt buckle. Refer to Seat Belt Buckle Replacement - Left Front in Seat Belts.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Install any connectors or components that were removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM sound the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type that is installed on the vehicle.
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position, and then back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any stored DTC's.

Do any BCM DTC's exist?
