  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Lower the driver's window in order to prevent a lockout.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors
  5. Open and close the driver's door while observing the courtesy lights.

Do the courtesy lights turn ON with the driver's door open?

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Ensure that all of the vehicle doors are closed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch from the RUN position to the OFF position.
  4. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder while observing the courtesy lights.

Do the courtesy lights turn ON when removing the key from the ignition key cylinder?

Use a test light in order to probe between B+ and C201 terminal B4.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect C201.
  2. Use a test light in order to backprobe between B+ and C201 terminal B4.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal D2 and C201 terminal B3.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

2 ohms

Repair the malfunction between the BCM and the driver's door lock ajar switch. Refer to Interior Lamps System Check in Lighting Systems.

Repair the poor connection or the open in circuit 80 or 1550.

Replace the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift) (Column Shift) in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Install any connectors or components that were removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM sounds a chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type that is installed on the vehicle.
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position, and then back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any of the stored DTC's.
