  1. Pull the cigar lighter out of the cigar lighter housing.
  2. Install a known good cigar lighter into the cigar lighter housing.
  3. Push it in all the way.

Does the cigar lighter pop out to the edge of the cigar lighter housing?

Is the filament hot?

  1. Replace the cigar lighter.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the CIG LTR Fuse.

Is the CIG LTR Fuse open?

Go to Step 4

  1. Repair a short to ground in CKT 440.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

Use a test light to backprobe between the cigar lighter connector terminal A and ground.

Is the test light on?

Go to Step 7

  1. Repair the following conditions in CKT 440 between S238 and the cigar lighter connector terminal A:
  2. • The poor connection
    • The open
  3. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

Use a test light to backprobe between B+ and the cigar lighter connector terminal B.

Is the test light on?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

  1. Repair the following conditions in CKT 1450 between the cigar lighter harness connector terminal B and G200:
  2. • The poor connection
    • The open
  3. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Replace the cigar lighter housing. Refer to Instrument Panel Cigarette Lighter in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Inspect the system.
