Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Muffler Front Hanger Bracket


    Object Number: 194678  Size: SH
  1. The exhaust system uses several different hangers. Insulators are used in conjunction with the hangers to support the exhaust system.
  2. The exhaust muffler front hanger bracket is welded during assembly.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Notice: To prevent internal damage to the flexible coupling of the catalytic converter assembly, the converter must be supported. The vertical movement at the rear of the catalytic converter assembly must not exceed 6 degrees up or down.

  3. Suitably support the exhaust system.

  5. Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator from the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.
  6. Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger screw.
  7. Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger screw.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust pipe rear hanger screw to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).

  5. Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator to the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.
  6. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.

  4. Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulators from the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
  5. Loosen the outboard rear bumper impact bar bolt.
  6. Remove the inboard rear bumper impact bar bolt.
  7. Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bumper impact bar bolts to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).

  5. Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulators to the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
  6. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.

  1. Install the exhaust pipe hangers.
  2. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
