  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Insert a compact disc (CD) and operate.

Is the CD skipping or mute?

--

Go to Step  3

Go to Step  4

Inspect the disc for one of the following conditions:

    • Improper insertion
    • Scrathes
    • Dirt
    • Fingerprints

Are any of the conditions present?

Go to Step  5

Observe the CD player for the following condition:

    • ERR is displayed.
    • The disc is ejected.

Do either of the conditions exist?

Go to Step  7

Clean or replace the disc.

Did you complete the cleaning or replacement?

Test the CD player with a known good disc.

Is the symptom still present?

Inspect the disc for one of the following conditions:

    • The disc is inserted upside down.
    • The disc is dirty.
    • The disc is badly scratched.
    • The disc is wet. Moisture has condensed on the disc. This will occur when a cold disc is inserted into a hot player, or vice versa. Allow up to 1 hour in order for the condensation to evaporate.
    • Very high internal instrument panel temperatures may cause the disc to eject.

Is the symptom still present?

Remove the radio for repair. Refer to Radio Replacement for service procedure.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step  9

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
